Great Lake! Windy City! SO BIG! is accepted by the curators for our PAQA-South Members Show, ARTQUILTSconnections, from October 22-November 16, 2014 at the Page-Walker Art and History Center in Cary, NC. The annual member shows are always a wonderful collection of art quilts displayed in a beautiful refurbished railroad hotel. Check out the membership list to see who might have a contribution in addition to my own.

With the fog lifting over Chicago, Lake Michigan gently lapping at the shoreline, and the sun peeking through to shine on him, this toddler enjoys the feeling of being “So Big”! Inspired by a photo of her nephew from Lisa Arneson. Created Aug. 2014-40″x 47″-Not for Sale -All Rights Reserved©Mary A. Ritter

Glad I caught some of his enthusiasm. Lisa’s composition in the photograph struck me immediately, and I knew someday I would want to use it in an art piece. This time I was not attempting to do a likeness of Emmett…. just an impression.
